Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer - Controls Specialist to join our team at Ford Motor Company. As a key member of our Manufacturing team, you will be responsible for leading problem-solving efforts to assist plants and implementation teams in resolving tooling, equipment, and conveyor performance issues and downtime.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate resources to find root cause and fixes, manage and breakdown problems into items that can be validated.
- Handle setup and maintenance of industrial bar code printers.
- Utilize sound knowledge to design and implement vision control systems, familiar with different types of vision cameras and their programming software.
- Continuously evaluate equipment for improvement for quality and delivery.
- Use FIS plant monitoring software to review cycle times of equipment, review and follow up project installations.
- Reprogram equipment for engineering changes and improvements.
- Update program backups for machinery and automation.
- Program new installations of automation, machinery, material handling, and robots.
- As part of a team, review risk assessments and evaluate equipment safety.
- Assist in training manufacturing personnel and plant electricians.
- Read and modify electrical prints and schematics, AutoCAD.
- Maintain familiarity with OA, CPN/MPN networks and communication protocols for connecting to wireless and wired networks.
- Manage installation and maintenance of virus protection software for controls network PCs, perform PC backup disc images and installation of communication and firmware and controls software.
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2 or more years of Controls Engineering experience (internship and coop experience will be considered).
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Electrical background (electrician or technician) preferred.
- Familiar with PLC/CNC (Siemens/Allen-Bradley), VFD, Servo, Profinet, ABB, and FANUC Robots.
- Solid understanding of laser burning.
- Demonstrated ability to read blueprints, modify electrical schematics, and use AutoCAD.
- Validated ability to troubleshoot equipment and continuously evaluate for process improvements.
- Experience with conveyor system programming and overhead Gantry.
- Solid understanding of networking to include DH+, Ethernet, and remote IO.
- Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience.
- Lean Tools - 5S, Kanban, Poka-Yoke, Value Stream Mapping experience.
- Understanding of 8D, FMEA, and DMAIC processes.
- Familiar with TQM and Kaizen methods.
- One or more years of experience with MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook).
- Knowledge of simulation modeling and visual factory management preferred.
