Job Summary:

The Interventional Radiology Technologist plays a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and technical support during invasive cardiovascular procedures. This dynamic individual will work closely with a team of professionals to ensure the highest level of quality and safety in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performs general patient care, including preparing rooms, applying sterile drapes, and preparing equipment for procedures.
  • Assists nurses and physicians with procedures, including circulating in the procedure rooms and scrub assisting during procedures.
  • Operates equipment necessary for procedures, including hemodynamic monitors, video imaging systems, and contrast injectors.
  • Maintains supplies and equipment, ensuring they are available and stored appropriately.
  • Performs catheter and sheath removal after invasive procedures, assessing the groin site and peripheral pulses, and checking vital signs prior to sheath removal.
Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Radiology Technologist registered or eligible, or CCI credential for Cath lab.
  • Previous Cath Lab experience.
  • BLS and ALS certifications preferred.
Working Conditions:

The Interventional Radiology Technologist will be regularly exposed to the risk of blood-borne diseases and radiation. They will be required to wear protective apparel, including lead aprons, eye protection, sterile and non-sterile medical gloves, and masks. The individual will also be exposed to unpleasant elements, such as accidents, injuries, and illnesses.

Physical Requirements:

The Interventional Radiology Technologist will be required to perform prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing, walking, lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients. They must be able to lift 50 pounds and perform considerable reach, stooping, bending, kneeling, and/or crouching.
