Teaching Opportunity in Biology Department

Coe College is seeking a dynamic and student-centered individual to fill a one-semester sabbatical replacement position in the Department of Biology, starting in January 2025.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Teach a Microbiology course designed for pre-nursing students and two associated 3-hour laboratories.
  • Teach a Genetics laboratory, if possible.
Requirements:
  • M.S. or higher in Microbiology or a related field is preferred.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to excellent teaching, including inclusive pedagogies and strong mentoring and academic support for diverse undergraduate student populations.
About the Department:

The Department of Biology offers Bachelor of Arts degrees in general biology or with an emphasis in Environmental Science, Molecular Biology, or Neuroscience. The department has a strong reputation, graduating approximately 40 undergraduate biology majors per year. The department also offers courses in service for the college's nursing and kinesiology programs, as well as for general education.

The department has a collaborative environment, with 7 full-time and 1 part-time faculty members, as well as a laboratory manager. The department is housed in a renovated building, Peterson Hall, which is shared with the chemistry and physics departments and contains modern laboratory space.
