Key Responsibilities:
Participate in the development of service plans and the planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational and recreational activities in accordance with the consumer's plan.
Teach and role model skills for consumers based on their individual needs, including personal hygiene, nutrition, safety, problem solving, interpersonal skills, and community integration.
Provide direct care by assisting consumers with daily living tasks, such as cooking, shopping, laundry, and housekeeping.
Assist residents in community services, family interactions, telephone use, generic services, and public transportation.
Assist and instruct residents with medication and money management, including keeping accurate pill counts and contacting physicians or pharmacies as needed.
Requirements:
Six months as an Aide Trainee, or one year of experience working with persons with mental or physical disabilities, or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Ability to meet the PA residency requirement and pass a background investigation.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with consumers, staff, and community partners.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, with a 30-minute lunch break.
