Job Title: ECMO Specialist Lead Nurse

HCA TriStar is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to fill the role of ECMO Specialist Lead Nurse. This position is responsible for supervising the operations related to ECMO therapy, collaborating with the CVICU and MSICU Manager, ECMO Coordinator, ICC Physicians, and Cardiovascular Surgeons.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a pathway and standards for the orientation of new ECMO Specialists
  • Coordinate the preceptorship of all new ECMO Specialists
  • Ensure all paperwork and competencies are complete on all new ECMO Specialists
  • Coordinate and document any required competencies related to mechanical circulatory support (MCS) for existing Specialists
  • Actively round on ECMO patient population to maintain standards of care and mentor existing staff
  • Take an active role in staff development through rounding, case presentations, and participation in wet labs
  • Initiate daily huddle with Perfusion to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and modify the plan of care for patients receiving ECMO or other MCS
  • Work with Perfusion and ECMO Coordinator in ordering, stocking, and setting par levels for ECMO supplies
  • Provide direction and act as a resource to other members of the specialty team to ensure comprehensive and safe patient care
Requirements:
  • RN licensure by Tennessee Board of Nursing or a Board of Nursing from a compact state
  • BLS and ACLS certification required
  • 3-5 years CVICU experience with expertise in mechanical cardiovascular support devices
  • Able to function in a preceptor role, i.e. is familiar with principles of adult learning
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
