Job Summary

Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community (VMRC) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Aquatic Safety Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Wellness Center staff, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and supervision of members and guests in the aquatics area.

Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service and create a welcoming environment for members and guests.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of individuals in the aquatics area, responding promptly to emergencies and incidents.
  • Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the pool area, including equipment and facilities.
  • Collaborate with senior staff to develop and implement safety protocols and procedures.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date on industry best practices and certifications.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard AED/CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Experience as a pool lifeguard in a hospital, recreational, or commercial fitness facility.
  • Ability to work closely with the senior population in a calm, cooperative, respectful, and professional manner.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Fluency in a second language is a plus.
Working Conditions

This is a part-time position with a variable schedule, including weekdays and Saturdays. The starting base rate of pay is $15.45 - $20.30 per hour.
