Job Title: CT Technologist

Job Summary:

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled CT Technologist to join our team in Vernon Hills, IL. As a CT Technologist, you will be responsible for performing high-quality CT scans and post-processing according to established clinical protocols and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform CT scans and post-processing according to established clinical protocols and guidelines.
  • Transport patients to and from departments when necessary, and assist in transferring patients on and off the CT table.
  • Continuously monitor patient condition during CT procedures.
  • Work with radiologists to tailor protocols to meet patient exam requirements.
  • Follow correct CT Department Technologist workflow, including selecting the correct scan room, identifying and documenting patient information, acquiring patient history, verifying orders, scanning patients, sending images to PACS, and charging for supplies.
  • Position patients correctly, using proper immobilization techniques.
  • Perform optimal scans using correct technical factors, shielding, and protocols based on patient diagnosis, history, and other relevant clinical information.
  • Operate support equipment for CT, including independent workstations, pressure injectors, PACS, and RadNet systems.
  • Initiate IVs for administration of contrast media for CT, following department policy and standard precautions.
  • Prepare patients for exams by explaining procedures and encouraging questions and answering any questions patients may have.
  • Accountable for maintaining good relations with internal and external customers encountered in daily job performance.

Requirements:

  • 1 year of general radiology experience preferred.
  • ARRT registry, IEMA license, and CPR certification required.
  • Advanced CT certification within 1 year of hire.
  • Basic knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and basic CT procedures.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer competence.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work overtime when needed and respond to work at short notice.
  • Ability to be flexible in starting times to meet departmental demands.
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to participate in on-call programs and be available to department needs with minimal notice.
