Position Overview: The Full-Time Housekeeping Attendant plays a vital role within the Dia Beacon Operations Department, reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Facilities and, during weekends, the Senior Manager of Visitor Services. This is a full-time position requiring a commitment of 32 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain cleanliness of building floors through sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
  • Utilize floor scrubbing machines, wet/dry vacuums, and standard carpet vacuums effectively.
  • Ensure cleanliness in various areas including carpets, walls, equipment, offices, kitchens, public spaces, conference rooms, classrooms, corridors, entrances, exterior walkways, and building fixtures.
  • Be available for additional hours during special events and to cover shifts for other housekeeping staff.
  • Service and maintain restrooms, ensuring they are stocked with soap, paper products, and other necessary supplies.
  • Collect and dispose of trash and waste, as well as separate and manage recyclable materials.
  • Assist with grounds maintenance by cleaning sidewalks and performing manual labor tasks.
  • Remove snow from sidewalks and parking areas, applying snow melting chemicals as needed.
  • Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies using appropriate tools.
  • Change light bulbs and maintain equipment post-use.

General Duties:

  • Set up and arrange tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding for events such as banquets and meetings.
  • Perform additional tasks as required or directed by the supervisor.
  • Notify management regarding supply needs, safety concerns, and maintenance issues.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a similar role is essential.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read labels, follow instructions, and operate cleaning equipment safely.
  • Awareness of potential safety and security issues.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively with team members.
  • Professional demeanor when interacting with staff and visitors.

Working Environment:

This position requires the employee to be active throughout their work hours, engaging in physical activities such as pushing cleaning equipment, using hand tools, and lifting weights frequently.
