Role Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse (PCU RN) to provide exceptional care to patients in our specialized unit. This role involves closely monitoring patients' conditions, particularly focusing on cardiac and vital sign changes, and executing life-saving interventions as necessary. The nurse will also be responsible for precise drug dose titration.
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in managing acutely ill patients within step-down units and demonstrate the ability to thrive in high-pressure environments. Given the complexity of the patients' conditions, proficiency in monitoring and interpreting vital signs is essential, along with the capacity to initiate timely interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze patient charts, medication plans, and test results upon admission.
- Monitor vital signs such as heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation levels.
- Interpret data from specialized medical devices.
- Administer prescribed medications and adjust dosages as required.
- Conduct diagnostic assessments to identify changes in patient conditions.
- Communicate any deteriorating conditions to healthcare professionals and implement intervention protocols.
- Maintain accurate patient records and update charts regularly.
- Supervise nursing assistants and support staff within the unit.
- Educate patients and their families about treatments and procedures, addressing any inquiries.

Qualifications:
- Current RN License required; must hold a valid nursing license from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact.
- Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
- One year of relevant experience preferred.
- Graduates from accredited nursing programs are required for new graduates and preferred for experienced RNs.
- Possess nursing skills and knowledge specific to the specialty area.
