Job Summary

As a Quartermaster and Chemical Equipment Repairer in the Army National Guard, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of systems that help protect and serve the force. Your skills will contribute to ensuring the maintenance of chemical decontamination equipment and quartermaster machinery, including laundry and bath equipment, pumps, engines, burners, filter units, and water purification units.

Key Responsibilities

• Service internal combustion engine ignition/fuel/cooling/electrical systems
• Perform damage assessment and repair
• Maintain and repair special purpose equipment, decontamination and protective filter systems, smoke generator systems, and chemical electrical systems

Benefits of the Job

• Opportunity to develop skills in shop mechanics, fixing engines, and machinery
• Potential for a civilian career in the marine transportation, commercial fishing, oil exploration, or oil drilling industries
• Possibility of becoming a marine engine mechanic

Training and Development

• 10 weeks of Basic Training to learn fundamental Soldiering skills
• 12 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT) to learn marine engine maintenance and repair, internal combustion engine theory, and the use and care of hand and power tools

Requirements

• Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
• Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or a GED certificate
• Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
• Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
• Must meet citizenship requirements
