Surgical Technologist I: Operating Room Specialist

Surgical Technologists are vital healthcare professionals who play a crucial role in delivering surgical care to patients.
These specialists operate under the guidance of a registered nurse (RN) and a surgeon to support surgical procedures, ensuring a safe operating room environment, proper functioning of equipment, and maintenance of patient safety. The surgical technologist is responsible for managing the instruments, supplies, and equipment essential during surgical operations. They possess a thorough understanding of the procedures and anticipate the surgeon's needs, remaining vigilant about maintaining the sterile field.The Surgical Technologist is capable of independently performing the scrub role and can also function as a circulator under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse.
This position may involve on-call responsibilities and rotating shifts as well.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Maintain sterile field
2. Prepare operating rooms and assist with patient positioning as required
3. Inspect sterile items for contamination prior to use, ensuring sterility while scrubbed, and maintaining the sterility of instruments and supplies
4. Conduct accurate counts of instruments, sponges, and needles, adhering to established policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/G.E.D. - required
- 1-3 years of scrubbing experience - preferred
- Familiarity with all specialty services - preferred
- CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) upon hire - required
- LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) - required
- State Licensure upon hire - required
