Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Nurse Specialist to join our team at the University of New Mexico Hospitals. As a Nurse Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to patients across various age groups, from Neonate to Geriatric.

About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding position that requires strong clinical leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for delivering high-quality patient care. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to implement individualized care plans, prioritize patient needs, and ensure seamless transitions between shifts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver safe direct care to assigned patients, adhering to hospital policies and procedures
  • Participate in orientation and assume precepting responsibilities for new personnel
  • Assist with special tests and procedures, ensuring proper consent has been obtained
  • Maintain accurate medical records and communicate clinical findings effectively
  • Enhance professional growth through participation in educational programs and workshops
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • A valid RN license in New Mexico or equivalent by reciprocal agreement
  • CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuer certification within 30 days
  • Nationally accredited nursing graduate education specialization
  • Bilingual English/Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo language proficiency
