Dietary Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Dietary Aide to join our team at Berks County. As a Dietary Aide, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our residents by assisting in the preparation and serving of food, as well as maintaining a clean and safe environment in the dietary area.

• Assist in the preparation and serving of food, including minor preparation of foods, portioning, and setting up for snacks and special events.
• Operate various kitchen appliances, including mixers, blenders, and slicers.
• Clean the kitchen and equipment, including sweeping and mopping the floor.
• Report any malfunctioning equipment or supply shortages to the supervisor.
• Perform dish machine operations, including scraping, feeding, and returning cleaned dishware to the proper location.

• Must be 18 years of age with some knowledge of basic nutrition, dietary operations, and appliances.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions and work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to read, write, and understand the English language fluently.
• Basic math skills for simple arithmetic.
• Ability to handle stress and work in a fast-paced environment.

The Dietary Aide will work in a kitchen environment with extreme heat on occasion. The position requires good dexterity, physical condition, strength, and stamina. The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance, push and pull carts, and stand for long periods of time.
