Job Summary:

The Virtual Registered Nurse I assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies/procedures for the purpose of monitoring and evaluating patient functional status. This position assumes accountability for patient care outcomes through the assimilation and application of evidence-based practice to design, implement, and evaluate patient plans of care in a virtual environment setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize the nursing process to care for patients, assessing, organizing, and completing patient care with consideration for patient, age, cultural, and psychosocial factors.
  • Document steps of the nursing process, utilizing proper medical terminology.
  • Address problems and progress toward goals, facilitating patient discharge through timely, appropriate referrals and utilization of patient education resources, suitable to patient age and cultural/psychosocial factors.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines as appropriate, supporting unit/hospital goals through PI and educational activities as evidenced by attending in-services, meeting unit education standards, and completing variance reports.
  • Work to prevent patient problems from occurring by direct observation via telemedicine technology, proactive surveillance of adverse physiological trends, assurance of appropriate prophylactic strategies, and medical chart review.
  • Virtually evaluate patients, educate the patient and families on disease process and procedures, and re-evaluate patients as appropriate.
  • Perform the responsibilities of clinician, educator, consultant/collaborator, and navigator during virtual appointments, coaching and mentoring nurses on the floor around the care of the patients.
  • Maintain knowledge of rapidly changing technology and equipment used in patient care settings.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of registered nurse experience in an acute care setting.
  • Valid multi-state or State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse License.
  • Demonstrated ability to use information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support decision-making.
  • Working knowledge of general disease state management processes, bio-psychosocial model, and clinical pathways.
  • Ability to receive and understand information relayed through oral or electronic communication, with exceptional and effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner, with attention to detail as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data.
  • Ability to demonstrate comfort and ease of familiarity with tele/virtual monitoring equipment, with a high degree of professional competence and autonomy.
