Role Summary:

A Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting Physical Therapists to aid patients in their recovery from injuries, manage pain, and enhance mobility. The primary responsibilities include preparing therapy equipment, assisting with patient exercises, and maintaining a clean therapy environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance to patients and their families on post-treatment care.
  • Monitor patients throughout therapy sessions and document their progress for the Physical Therapist.
  • Assign and assist patients with specific exercises tailored to their recovery needs.
  • Utilize mobility aids and therapeutic devices to facilitate patient movement and alleviate discomfort.
  • Implement various treatment techniques, including stretching and massage, to promote healing.
  • Assist patients in transitioning to and from therapy areas.
  • Maintain accurate records of patient observations and health status for review by the Physical Therapist.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling, communication, and sanitizing therapy spaces after sessions.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in a relevant field is required.
  • PTA Certification is mandatory.
  • New graduates are encouraged to apply; however, one (1) year of experience is preferred.
  • CPR Certification is essential.
  • Physical capability to assist patients with mobility.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow detailed instructions.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated compassion and empathy towards patients.
  • Attention to detail is crucial.
  • Solid understanding of human anatomy.
  • Familiarity with physical therapy exercises and stretches.
