Job Title: Correctional Nurse Practitioner

Premier Physician Services is seeking experienced Nurse Practitioners to provide comprehensive healthcare services to incarcerated individuals in correctional facilities across North Carolina.

Job Summary:

The Correctional Nurse Practitioner is responsible for delivering high-quality medical care, promoting wellness, managing chronic illnesses, addressing acute medical needs, and supporting mental health care within the correctional setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough health assessments, including physical examinations, medical histories, and diagnostic tests.
  • Diagnose and treat acute and chronic medical conditions and injuries.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients based on their unique medical needs.
  • Prescribe and administer medications, following protocols and guidelines for safe and appropriate medication use.
  • Monitor patients for potential side effects, drug interactions, and treatment efficacy.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide urgent medical care as needed.
  • Coordinate with healthcare and security teams during emergency situations.
  • Assess mental health conditions and provide appropriate interventions, referrals, or counseling as needed.
  • Collaborate with mental health professionals to address complex mental health issues.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative practice agreements with supervising physicians and adhere to relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to provide comprehensive care.
  • Offer health education and disease prevention guidance to incarcerated individuals.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for all patients.
  • Complete necessary documentation and reports in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Ensure compliance with state laws, regulations, and institutional policies related to healthcare provision within the correctional facility.
