Job Summary:

The University of Delaware is seeking a highly skilled Research Nurse to support our Cardiovascular Health research initiatives. As a key member of our research team, you will provide nursing support and assist in the coordination of clinical research projects related to cardiovascular health in children through seniors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain in-depth knowledge of each research protocol and study design, including IRB status, participant expectations, and safety considerations.
  • Collaborate with the Director of the COBRE Research Core and other Core staff to ensure ongoing compliance with research protocols.
  • Schedule and perform health-related procedures and testing as needed, such as drawing blood, IV insertion, and administering medications.
  • Assess participants during research visits, identifying potential side effects or problems, and notify the Principal Investigator as necessary.
  • Review medical records of study participants to obtain relevant data.
  • Complete case report forms for each study participant and document research data in the patient record.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing from a State Board of Nursing-approved school of nursing and a minimum of one to two years of professional nursing experience.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Delaware.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of nursing care.
  • Knowledge of ethical requirements of research.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain detailed records.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of nursing experience in a clinical setting.
  • CCRP certification.

Special Requirements:

  • Completion of Human Subjects Training.
