Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Orthopedic Physician Assistant to join our team at Iowa Orthopaedic Center PC. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in orthopedic surgery and a passion for delivering exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform history and physical examinations on patients, establishing diagnoses and ordering laboratory and ancillary testing services.
  • Review patients' records and administer injections, including visco supplementation.
  • Make complete chart entries on all patient transactions, following CPT and ICD-9 coding guidelines.
  • Prepare written prescription orders for drugs and controlled substances, following State of Iowa legal guidelines.
  • Provide counseling and instruction to patients, and assist physicians with dictating patient progress notes and discharge summaries.
  • Triage patient phone calls, provide consultation, and follow up as necessary, documenting all conversations in the patient's chart.
  • Perform independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations, and assist with surgical procedures and postoperative care.
  • Assist with inpatient daily rounding, perform on-call responsibilities, and participate in emergency room duties as directed by the physician.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
  • Experience with orthopedics, preferably in a surgical setting.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Ability to hold retraction for the duration of surgery.
