Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Childhood Educator to join our team. As a Preschool Teacher Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality education and care to young children in our Head Start/Early Head Start Program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lesson Planning and Implementation: Develop and implement daily lesson plans that cater to the educational and enrichment needs of pre-school aged children, ensuring compliance with federal performance standards.
- Classroom Management: Plan and arrange classrooms into effective learning areas, promoting a safe and engaging environment for young children.
- Child Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Screen and assess children to determine developmental and educational needs, developing and implementing individual education plans that meet federal standards.
- Health and Safety: Monitor meal and snack periods, classroom and restroom activities, and playground activities to ensure a safe environment for young children.
- Communication and Collaboration: Communicate with parents through regular conferences, written correspondence, and telephone updates, apprising them of their child's progress and upcoming events.
- Professional Development: Attend and participate in workshops and meetings to acquire and disseminate information, ensuring ongoing professional growth and development.
Requirements:
- Education: A baccalaureate or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, with coursework equivalent to a major in Early Childhood Education.
- Experience: Two years of experience teaching Head Start, Early Head Start, pre-school, or kindergarten age children.
- Skills: Working knowledge of brain development, child development, culture, and practices for early childhood, as well as developmentally appropriate practices and behavior modification theories.
- Certifications: Certification in First Aid and CPR, and successful completion of a Level II background screening, local criminal record check, and drug screening.
