Job Summary:

The Lot Driver is a critical role at Leonard Buildings and Truck Accessories, responsible for the safe and timely delivery of sheds and truck accessories from our retail lot to customers' locations. This position reports directly to the District Sales Manager and does not have direct reports.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Transporting Portable Buildings
  • Obtaining a schedule from the Route Manager
  • Locating and inspecting the building for defects before loading
  • Repairing any defects found before transporting, obtaining a serial number rub
  • Performing a final safety walk-around prior to departure
  • Transporting and dropping the building as scheduled, ensuring it is level and reporting to the dealer
  • Delivering customer buildings
  • Contacting customers before delivery for confirmation to bring the storage building
  • Releasing signed documents before entering customer property upon arrival
  • Walking and checking the delivery route with the customer, locating any obstacles
  • Navigating the route with the building and placing it in the requested area
  • Leveling the building, touching up paint, and ensuring all doors and windows are working
  • Taking pictures of the delivered building, including all four sides, leveling, and roof lines
  • Performing a final walk-through inspection with the customer for accepted delivery
  • Collecting payment and signing contract or cash sale receipt
  • Loading all tools and supplies, securing tarps, and exiting the property
  • Picking up customer buildings
  • Driving to customer property and locating the building
  • Determining access and positioning the vehicle for retrieval
  • Contacting the customer for removal or payment
  • Collecting payment and returning the building to the sales lot, ensuring it is level and reporting to the dealer
Requirements:
  • Must be able to pass a background check, drug screen, and DOT physical
  • Excellent customer service and professional communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks
  • Positive attitude with a can-do mentality
  • Self-starter with the ability to work well independently and as part of a team
Education/Experience Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record that meets the Company and FMCSA/DOT safety standards
  • Must have a CDL A License
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a delivery role, preferably in the retail industry
Travel:

This position requires approximately 95% travel within the United States to customer sites within the dedicated area.
