Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Water Safety Specialist and Pool Operations Manager to join our team at the City of Corvallis, OR. As a key member of our aquatics team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of pool users, while also overseeing the day-to-day operations of our aquatic facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide lifeguard services in both indoor and outdoor pools, maintaining constant vigil over patrons and effectively rescuing persons in danger.
  • Monitor the use of the swimming pools, classrooms, locker rooms, and other areas in the facility, enforcing safety rules and preventing accidents.
  • Respond to public inquiries about aquatics programs and special events, providing corrective feedback to patrons who may not be following facility rules or guidelines.
  • Assist patrons with disabilities enter and exit the pools, while also supporting the Head Lifeguard in opening duties, closing duties, and facility operations.
  • Attend and actively participate in monthly in-service training and maintain in-service training requirements.
  • Assist in implementing and supporting various aquatics competitions, facility rentals, and special events.
  • Conform with all safety rules and perform work in a safe manner, delivering excellent customer service to diverse audiences.
Requirements
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED certifications for the Professional Rescuer or Healthcare Provider within one year of issuance required.
  • Waterpark or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Ability to work irregular schedules, including early morning, late evenings, weekends, and holiday shifts.
  • Demonstrable commitment to sustainability and promoting diversity.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background and/or criminal history check.
