Job Summary

This position is responsible for performing strenuous unskilled or semi-skilled labor of routine difficulty, including semi-skilled street maintenance. The successful candidate will work under direct to general supervision, performing tasks such as cleaning catch basins, operating hand and power tools, and assisting with snow/ice removal.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform general street maintenance tasks, including cleaning catch basins and operating hand and power tools.
  • Assist with snow/ice removal, working variable hours on an on-call basis.
  • Operate equipment such as backhoes, loaders, skid steers, rollers, and crack sealing equipment.
  • Clean streets using a street sweeper.
  • Maintain asphalt, concrete, and gravel surfaces using a motor grader.
  • Perform minor repairs and adjustments on equipment.
  • Attend monthly safety meetings and assist other team members as needed.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as sitting, standing, walking, bending, climbing, twisting, squatting, reaching overhead, grasping, lifting, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and handling of objects. They will also have the ability to work within an environment that requires frequent lifting up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting up to 100 pounds with assistance.

Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to changing weather conditions. They will be required to wear personal protective equipment as needed and adhere to all standards, conduct, and policies as stated in the Employee Handbook.
