Job Summary

Williamson Health is seeking a highly skilled Certified Surgical Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our Central Sterilization department, you will be responsible for providing sterile or high-level disinfected equipment and supplies to support inpatient and outpatient surgical patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Decontamination Area: Adhere to CS decontamination area policies and procedures, including proper wearing of PPE, knowledge of ultrasonic and instrument washer testing and operation, and adherence to CS eye wash station policy & procedures.
  • Instrument Assembly Area: Assemble instruments and equipment according to Central Sterilization policies and procedures, utilizing available resources (Censitrac and OneSource) for the correct sterilization methods, and utilizing proper instrument wrapping techniques and proper peel package of surgical instruments.
  • Sterilization: Adhere to CS policies related to all sterilization methods, including Steam - prevac /gravity, Vaporized Hydrogen Peroxide, and properly load sterilization racks and follow CS policies and procedures for sterilization.
  • Sterile Storage: Adhere to storage requirements for sterilized reusable medical equipment and facilitate a cohesive sterile processing team, assisting with the orientation and training of new personnel, and participating in the development of educational programs for co-workers.
Requirements
  • Formal Education / Training: High school graduate or equivalent, previous CSR experience required, and certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist.
  • Workplace Experience: Central Sterilization and Processing experience in an Inpatient or Outpatient Surgery Environment.
  • Equipment and Skills Training: Ability to work well under pressure, function independently or within a team, and flexibility in applying basic sterile processing knowledge in a variety of settings.
  • Knowledge in the following CSP equipment: surgical equipment, instruments and trays, Pre-Vac and Gravity steam sterilization, low temperature sterilization, surgical instrument washer / disinfector and ultrasonic cleaner, network computer system, and computerized surgical Instrument tracking system.
Physical Environment

An Inpatient and Outpatient Surgical facility with patient population ranging from less than one year of age to ninety-nine plus years of age. Environmental conditions include possible exposure to anesthetics, radiation, and infectious disease entities.

Physical Effort
  • Requires the ability to communicate in English orally and written.
  • Requires prolonged standing and working for up to twelve hours a day.
  • Constantly required to push/pull objects up to 175 lbs.
  • Requires the ability to lift, position, and transport with assistance up to 250 lbs.
  • Ability to work overtime or late shifts as required by the work load schedule.
  • Weekend / Holiday call rotation required.
