HEALTHCARE SUPPORT SPECIALIST

The Healthcare Support Specialist plays a vital role within the medical team by delivering essential clinical, administrative, and technical assistance to healthcare providers in the management of patient care, comfort, and safety. This position operates in alignment with the mission, policies, and objectives of Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS), ensuring patient confidentiality is upheld at all times.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Required: A high school diploma or equivalent, along with one of the following:

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant training program
  • Successful completion of the following courses or their recognized equivalents:
  • Medical Terminology from an accredited institution or online through recognized platforms.
  • Anatomy & Physiology or related courses from an accredited institution or online.
  • Pharmacology from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant work experience in a medical assistant capacity, with completion of the required educational courses within the first year of employment.

Preferred/Optional: Previous experience in a healthcare setting.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES

Minimum Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of employment.

Preferred/Optional: BLS certification from the AHA at the time of hire.

OR

CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT

The Certified Medical Assistant serves as a crucial member of the healthcare teams, providing fundamental clinical, administrative, and technical support to assist providers in the management of patient care, comfort, and safety. The individual performs in accordance with the mission, policies, and objectives of Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS), while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

Minimum Required: Graduation from a Medical Assistant program with AAMA or RMA certification is required. Successful completion of the following courses or their recognized equivalents:

  • Medical Terminology
  • Anatomy & Physiology or related courses
  • Pharmacology

Preferred/Optional: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license from the State of Wisconsin.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum Required: No prior experience required.

Preferred/Optional: Experience in a healthcare environment.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES

Minimum Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of employment and one of the following:

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
