Aircraft Technician Trainee Job Description

Job Summary:

Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Aircraft Technician Trainee to join our team. As an Aircraft Technician Trainee, you will assist in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of customer aircraft, gaining knowledge of and familiarity with the Gulfstream aircraft, internal procedures for work completion and quality control, and the ways in which multiple shops must work together to meet production goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assist in Aircraft Inspection and Maintenance: Gain experience in the inspection and maintenance of various Gulfstream aircraft systems, including airframe structural, electrical, hydraulic, fuel, landing gear, flight controls and rigging, engines, conditioned air, anti-ice, and other sub-systems.
  2. Coordinate with Inspection Department: Ensure compliance with internal and FAA inspection and documentation requirements, properly complete parts change sheets, work order sign-offs, shift turn-overs, and other paperwork in a timely manner.
  3. Meet Quality Standards: Ensure that work accomplished meets FAA requirements, customer specifications, and Gulfstream standard of quality.
  4. Identify and Store Customer Property: Properly identify (tag) customer property and equipment, store aircraft components and other customer property securely and safely, and prevent damage to aircraft.
  5. Operate Ground Support Equipment: Correctly and safely operate ground support equipment, including external power carts, hydraulic mules, hydraulic lift platforms, tow tugs, forklifts, compressed gas cylinders, etc.
  6. Assist Line Service: Assist Line Service with the movement and servicing of aircraft, ensuring that parts racks and cages remain near their respective aircraft.
Requirements:
  1. Strong Mechanical Aptitude: Possess a strong mechanical aptitude and ability to learn and apply technical knowledge.
  2. Education and Experience: Enrollment in an Airframe & Powerplant license program is preferred, and prior experience with civil or military aircraft avionics systems and/or installation is helpful.
  3. Communication Skills: Essential communication skills include the ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language, and listening and computer keyboard skills.
