Job Summary:

As a Medical Assistant at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a Physician and/or Designee. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in the delivery of high-quality patient care, ensuring a positive experience for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct patient interviews, measure vital signs, and record pertinent information in the patient's medical record. Prepare treatment rooms and patients for examination, and assist clinicians with patient care.
  2. Schedule appointments, perform clinical tasks, and complete necessary forms. May be responsible for administering medications, including injections, and cleaning, processing, and sterilizing instruments.
  3. Anticipate patient needs, take proactive steps to meet those needs, and respond promptly to alarms and patient requests. Maintain a clean, orderly, and functional work environment.
  4. Act as a resource and mentor to new employees, students, and other team members. Participate in departmental professional development activities and adhere to the Attendance Policy.

Grade 180

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Minimum six (6) months of experience or successful completion of Kaiser Permanente externship.
  2. Per the National Agreement, current KP Coalition employees have this experience requirement waived.
Education
  1. High School Diploma/GED.
  2. Completion of a course of study consistent with the requirements for Medical Assistants as specified by the Medical Board of California.
License, Certification, Registration
  1. Basic Life Support
Additional Requirements:
  1. Ability to read, write, and comprehend medical information.
  2. Ability to effectively present information, both verbal and written.
  3. Must be willing to work in a Labor Management Partnership environment.
  4. Refer to Position Specifications outlined in the appropriate collective bargaining agreement.
  5. Demonstrated ability to use personal computer.
  6. Medical Terminology Certificate or equivalent experience.
