Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and uphold delivery timelines and deadlines within the MRP system, aligning with customer demand through planning solutions and discrete sales orders, while utilizing forecasting methods as necessary.
  • Evaluate and relay insights to relevant departments regarding material status and requirements essential for meeting customer demands.
  • Provide estimated lead times to the Customer Service team concerning the Laird Promise Date for fulfilling customer orders.
  • Engage with sales personnel and clients to maintain accurate forecasts and Master Production Schedules.
  • Coordinate production schedules by analyzing various inputs, including sales orders, historical data, sales forecasts, and feedback from product managers or sales leadership.
  • Verify inventory availability prior to confirming and releasing work orders using system queries and reports.
  • Manage Supplier Schedules and the Supplier Demand Visibility application as necessary, and support training initiatives for suppliers.
  • Maintain discrete purchase orders and Supplier Schedules based on MRP Action Messages and new engineering change orders.
  • Track and assess material cost-saving plans and objectives; collaborate with Materials Management and Category Management teams on supplier negotiation efforts as needed.
  • Work in conjunction with multiple Laird factories and suppliers to ensure appropriate inventory levels for finished goods and components.
  • Assist in managing inventory levels to fulfill customer orders, including safety stock and distribution stock, utilizing established Supply Chain systems.
  • Develop, enhance, and oversee reporting processes and systems to regulate supply chain functions.
  • Collaborate with the Materials Management team to optimize supply chain and logistics solutions, aiming to maximize On-Time Delivery to customer requests and Laird promises while minimizing inventory investment.
  • Adhere to Laird's quality and safety systems and standards.

Qualifications

Experience: Previous experience in production/materials planning or MRP is required, with QAD experience preferred.

Skills: Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, along with the ability to identify problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Windows programs, particularly Excel, and familiar with integrated manufacturing software systems.

Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain accuracy and focus on details.

Education: A Bachelor's degree or higher is preferred.

Experience: A minimum of one year of scheduling and planning experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred. Willingness and capability to complete elements of CPIM APICS within 18 months of accepting the position.
