Emergency Department Technician Job Description

INTEGRIS Health, Oklahoma's largest not-for-profit health system, is seeking a skilled Emergency Department Technician to join our team at Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Job Summary:

The Emergency Department Technician plays a vital role in providing patient care in the emergency room setting, utilizing specialized skills and training unique to this unit. This position requires population-specific competencies and adherence to National Patient Safety Goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Administers patient care and special procedures, utilizing unique skills and training.
  • Assists professional staff with sterile procedures and performs rounds on patients, reporting and documenting vital signs, patient condition, and transports.
  • Operates specialized equipment, requiring special knowledge, skills, and training unique to critical care units.
  • Maintains a clean unit, including daily cleaning of carriers with disinfectant, daily cleaning and stocking of exam rooms, and emptying and stocking linens as needed.
  • May retrieve and transport medications.

Requirements:

  • Current State of Oklahoma License or Nationally Registered as an Emergency Medical Technician Basic (EMT Basic), EMT Intermediate (EMT I), or completion of junior year of accredited Nursing program, Certified AUA, or completion of Armed Services Medic Training/Certification.
  • 1 year experience in an acute care or pre-hospital EMS setting, including venipuncture skills, medical terminology, and current BLS certification.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal/written).
