Job Title: Credentialed Veterinary Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our team at Desert Veterinary Clinic. As a key member of our veterinary team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care, assisting veterinarians with medical procedures, and ensuring the smooth operation of our clinic.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide compassionate patient care, including administering medications, taking vital signs, and monitoring patients' conditions.
  • Assist veterinarians with medical procedures, such as surgeries, vaccinations, and lab work.
  • Prepare patients for exams and procedures, including restraining animals and preparing medical equipment.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, including patient histories, test results, and treatment plans.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, veterinarians, and other staff members to ensure seamless patient care and efficient clinic operations.
  • Perform routine laboratory procedures, including blood draws, urinalyses, and fecal exams.
  • Assist with surgical procedures, including preparing patients, maintaining anesthesia, and monitoring vital signs.
  • Restrain animals during exams and procedures, using gentle and humane techniques.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including exam rooms, treatment areas, and laboratory spaces.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay up-to-date on the latest veterinary medical procedures and technologies.
Requirements:
  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT) certification.
  • At least two years of recent experience in veterinary practice or medical environment, with increasing responsibilities.
  • Ability to perform routine veterinary medical procedures, including collecting samples, drawing blood, administering vaccines, and monitoring patients under anesthesia.
  • Ability to maintain clear and accurate records and to charge clients for all products and services rendered.
  • Ability to properly restrain patients.
  • Knowledge of spelling and meaning of commonly used veterinary medical terminology and procedures.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks in the time allotted without direct supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to show empathy toward clients and treat animals with respect and compassion.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • A commitment to outstanding client service.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing 40 pounds without assistance and objects weighing more than 40 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to stay on task and work energetically for an entire shift, sometimes exceeding 10 hours per day.
