Job Summary

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join Hillsborough County as a Capital Projects Manager. As a key member of our facilities capital program team, you will be responsible for managing medium to large-sized building projects or sub-projects, with a focus on delivering high-quality results within budget and schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversight of the design process, including all phases, to ensure that projects meet the required standards and specifications.
  • Maintenance of project budgets and schedules, including the identification and mitigation of potential risks and issues.
  • Collaboration with design professionals to develop preliminary and detailed drawings for building construction projects.
  • Assistance with the development of project scopes, programs, and budgets that meet the needs of our user agencies.
  • Management of capital projects during construction, including bidding, issuance of notices, and review of changes.
  • Providing biweekly updates of project status to management and conducting monthly review meetings with user agencies.
  • Assistance with project delivery for unscheduled or emergency projects.
Working Conditions

This role requires a high level of autonomy and flexibility, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities. The successful candidate will be required to spend time in an office environment, as well as on-site at construction projects, which may involve exposure to varying weather conditions.

Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year degree-granting college or university with a degree in architecture or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in the practice of project management in the building design and construction field.
  • Technical competency with computer applications, including CAD.
  • Maintenance of a valid State of Florida vehicle license.
