We are seeking a highly skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at Ozinga Ready Mix Concrete Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing diagnostic testing, analyzing results, and repairing/ replacing engine, steering, transmission, braking, and lighting systems on commercial motor vehicles.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze and troubleshoot vehicle issues to identify faults and implement repairs
- Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles and commercial motor vehicles to ensure optimal performance and safety
- Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles and test drive vehicles to gauge performance
- Adhere to an inspection procedure checklist (Annual DOT Inspection) on Commercial Motor Vehicles
- Ensure cleanliness of the shop and maintain a safe working environment
- Certified Diesel Tech preferred
- A/C Certified preferred
- DOT Air Brakes Certified preferred
- Knowledge of diagnostic testing on vehicles and engines
- Aptitude for mathematics and science
- Advanced knowledge of diesel engine components
3+ years of experience as a mechanic with emphasis in diesel engines and/or commercial motor vehicles is preferred
Working ConditionsOperation within a fast-paced environment, exposed to moving mechanical parts, vehicles, heavy construction equipment, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. Noise level is usually moderate, but can be high and requires personal hearing protection on occasion at job sites, plants, and laboratories.
Physical RequirementsRegularly required to talk or hear; frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
