Pittsburgh Regional Transit is seeking a Junior Internal Audit Associate to engage in the planning and execution of audit projects for the organization.

The selected candidate will be responsible for performing reviews of specific audit components, organizing documentation that captures audit processes, findings, and recommendations in accordance with established professional standards.

They will play a vital role in the audit findings report, which includes proposing solutions to address identified issues, improve operational efficiency, reduce expenditures, or increase revenue streams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute and manage audit projects, assess sections of comprehensive audits, and document audit methodologies, findings, and recommendations in alignment with professional standards.
  • Engage in the evaluation of organizational and functional processes, interpret relevant policies and procedures, and suggest enhancements to business processes.
  • Contribute to special review initiatives as requested by Internal Audit management, which may involve investigating and resolving issues related to assignments.
  • Assist in determining the direction and scope of audits, including the analysis and establishment of audit objectives.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in auditing or accounting. No specific certifications or licenses are required.
  • Competence in planning and executing audit projects, assessing extensive audits, and documenting audit processes, findings, and recommendations in accordance with professional standards.
  • Willingness to travel to various locations, with occasional overnight stays, evenings, and weekends as necessary to conduct audits.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Desired Qualities:

  • Two (2) years of experience in internal auditing.
  • Familiarity with Government Auditing Standards (GAS).
  • Possession of CIA, CFE, CPA, or any relevant professional certification that may enhance internal auditing capabilities.
  • Experience with audit software.
  • Background in business process improvement (BPI).
