Job Summary

Cleveland Clinic is seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team. As a Speech Therapist for Children, you will work closely with doctors, family members, and teachers to provide specialist advice and support to children with occupational therapy needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support and advice to parents and teachers on the occupational therapy needs of children.
  • Adjust communication patterns to the age and level of understanding of the child.
  • Attend meetings to provide specialist advice on the functional needs of children.
  • Plan further treatment and review the child's progress.
  • Work closely with doctors, family members, and teachers to keep them updated on the child's progress.
  • Assess children for adaptations and use of specialist equipment when necessary.
  • Identify areas of improvement in the procedure and help manage adaptive changes.
Requirements
  • Masters, Doctorate, or SLP-D Degree from an accredited school of Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Registered in the State of Florida.
  • Possess license in the State of Florida.
  • ASHA certification.
  • Hold or be eligible for a Speech-Language Pathology License (SP) from the State Board of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology.
  • Hold (SP) license in current state upon start date.
  • Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a healthcare or clinical setting.
Physical Requirements

Work is medium/frequent lifting and carrying equipment, supplies, and materials up to 50 pounds without help of mechanical devices or other personnel.

Stooping, pushing, and pulling when moving patients or equipment into position for treatment.

Talking and hearing to convey instruction and information to patient and staff member.

Visual acuity to perceive reactions to treatment and to follow or read instruction.

The occupant of this position spends 98% of his/her time in air-conditioned areas, the remainder in outside areas.

The potential for exposure to blood and blood-borne pathogens is present while completing clinical duties.

This position requires reasoning, mathematical, and English language skills.

Ability to work at a fast pace and to prioritize multiple assignments/projects and respond to numerous requests; ability to resolve conflicts among staff and to work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team.

Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
