Position Overview

The University of Mount Union is seeking a dedicated Custodial Specialist to be an integral part of the physical plant department. The primary duty of the Custodial Specialist is to ensure a clean and sanitary atmosphere within the assigned facilities. Completing all tasks assigned by the Supervisor is essential to this role. Reporting directly to the Housekeeping Supervisor, the Custodial Specialist is crucial in maintaining the cleanliness standards of the campus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive cleaning and sanitization of all designated areas within the building.
  • Maintain organization and tidiness in all spaces.
  • Conduct regular dusting, surface cleaning with disinfectants, cleaning of mirrors and glass, emptying waste and recycling bins, vacuuming carpets, mopping hard floors, and ensuring restrooms are kept clean.
  • Adhere to instructions provided by the Housekeeping Supervisor.

The University provides extensive training in all facets of the cleaning profession. The Custodial Team operates under the Physical Plant Department, responsible for the upkeep of a sprawling 128-acre campus with 55 buildings totaling over 1.3 million square feet.

Qualifications

Prior experience in a custodial role is advantageous but not essential. The ability to carry out assigned tasks, follow schedules, communicate effectively, and uphold a positive work ethic are critical. This position involves physical labor and may require shift flexibility. A valid Ohio driver's license and a clean driving record are necessary for operating University vehicles.
