Job Summary:

As a skilled Landscaper/Supervisor, you will be responsible for maintaining the landscape at various locations, ensuring that all tasks are completed to the highest standards. This role requires a high level of independence, with minimal supervision, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Landscape Maintenance: Mow grass, edge walkways, pull weeds, water lawns, trim shrubs, and tend to flower beds to ensure proper standards are maintained.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate lawn and ground equipment, including self-propelled lawn mowers, weed eaters, vacuums, blowers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, and other power equipment.
  • Landscaping and Gardening: Plant and maintain exterior and interior landscaping in accordance with the landscaping plan.
  • Irrigation Systems: Assist in maintaining irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of all landscape areas.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform periodic maintenance on equipment to ensure it is functioning properly.
Supervisory Duties:
  • Team Supervision: Supervise agency enclaves and employees to ensure all tasks are completed to the requirements of the contract.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all tasks performed meet contractual requirements and maintain quality control standards.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure all employees have the proper safety equipment needed to meet all safety standards and comply with organizational policies and applicable laws.
  • Administrative Tasks: Complete daily paperwork and maintain records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Communication: Inform project managers of any behavior or incidents detrimental to our relationship with GSA or project goals.
  • Supply Control: Maintain supply control to ensure accessibility of necessary items.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure proper maintenance and service of equipment to prevent breakdowns of machinery.
  • Employee Development: Directly supervise 4-5 employees during the day shift for grounds keeping team, train new employees, plan, assign, and direct work, appraise performance, reward and discipline employees, and address complaints and resolve problems.
Requirements:
  • Work History: Reflect at least 5 years of work history.
  • Background Check: Pass a background check.
  • Landscaping Experience: At least 1 year of experience working with various landscaping equipment, including lawn mowers, weed eaters, edgers, vacuum blowers, hedge trimmers, and hand tools.
  • Independence and Self-Motivation: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of cleaning, maintenance, and gardening methods, with materials and equipment, and knowledge of the operation of motorized and other equipment.
  • Supervisory Experience: At least 1 year of proven experience as a supervisor.
  • Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, and ability to write simple correspondence, effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations, and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
