The Milwaukee County Transit System is seeking a skilled Automotive Technician to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing all transit vehicles and service vehicles on the road and in the garage.
Key Responsibilities:
• Diagnose and repair defects on engines, transmissions, differentials, brakes, and related mechanical components
• Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles within established time standards
• Operate all types of snow removal equipment in yard and sidewalk areas
• Direct the work of lower classified employees
• Maintain regular and acceptable attendance as determined by MTS
Requirements:
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Valid Class D Wisconsin Driver's License (non-probationary) for at least one year prior to the date of application
• Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License with Passenger Endorsement and no Air Brake Restriction (or valid CDL permit 14 days prior to start date or transfer date)
• Pass all required internal written and practical tests: Air Conditioning, Brakes and Chassis, Electrical, Engines and Transmissions; or possess current ASE Certification in the field of heavy-duty vehicle maintenance
Preferred Qualifications:
• ASE required certifications: Diesel Engines, Drive Train, Brakes, Suspension and Steering, Air Conditioning, and Electrical/Electronic Systems
• Possess a complete complement of personal tools required to perform this position
