As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer II, you'll be part of the ML Data Shop team, which is responsible for building a highly reliable, scalable, and cost-effective platform to search for impactful on-road scenarios, label the data, prepare the resulting dataset for model training, and close the model performance feedback loop.

We're looking for an engineer to join a high-performing team delivering a data search and mining platform to surface vital data for Cruise's ML data needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Explore, prototype, validate, and iterate new algorithms and models
  • Drive efforts to optimize, evaluate, and refine on-road performance for models on the path to production
  • Guide current and future technology choices as a technical leader of the department
  • Balance technology tradeoffs based on company needs and have a deep understanding of the business and operational impact
  • Enable other engineers on the team to be more effective through design and code that is easy to extend and contribute to
  • Influence others and build consensus even over contentious technical debates
Requirements
  • BS, MS, or higher degree in CS/CE/EE or equivalent industry experience
  • Extensive experience with machine learning and classification
  • Extensive experience with data processing and management
  • Strong programming skills in C++ and Python
  • Excellent mathematical reasoning skills, especially with probability
  • Active team player in complex environments
  • Experience with autonomous driving or robotic technologies
  • Passionate about self-driving car technology and its impact on the world
