Job Title: Medical Billing Specialist - Claims and Collections Professional

About the Role:
A reputable healthcare organization in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a highly skilled Medical Billing Specialist to join their team. This role will focus on follow-up and collections to ensure accurate and timely claims processing.

Key Responsibilities:
Our ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
  • Assign accurate codes to medical procedures and diagnoses for billing and reimbursement purposes.
  • Collect and verify patient information, including demographics, insurance, and medical history.
  • Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies and government entities.
  • Follow up on unpaid claims, address denials, resolve issues, and resubmit claims as needed.
  • Communicate with patients regarding billing inquiries and available payment options.
  • Stay informed about changes in healthcare regulations, insurance policies, and billing practices.
  • Maintain precise records of patient and financial transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare billing and privacy laws.
  • Manage insurance collections, negotiate payment arrangements, and address correspondence.
  • Handle patient calls to support collection efforts, including eligibility assessment for charity programs and discount negotiations.
  • Conduct detailed account reviews, resolve discrepancies, and update billing details as necessary.

Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • 5+ years of medical billing and collections experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Undergraduate degree or relevant certifications (preferred).
  • Proficiency in basic Excel (required).

Compensation and Benefits:
This full-time opportunity offers a competitive salary range of $21.00 to $24.00 per hour, with potential for a sign-on bonus. We also provide a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, commuter benefits, and a 401K plan. Paid leave includes Paid Sick Leave (where required by law), other paid leave mandated by Federal, State, or local law, and Holiday pay upon meeting eligibility criteria.
