Position Overview
AECOM is looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineering Specialist to join our team in Denver, CO.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and supervise field investigations and laboratory assessments of soil and rock materials.
- Lead teams in material characterization, seepage analysis, and slope stability evaluations, including the design of stabilization measures for dams and spillways.
- Manage seismic stability assessments and deformation analyses for dams, focusing on earthquake impacts and liquefaction potential.
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations to stakeholders, including clients and regulatory bodies.
- Oversee the creation of technical reports and conduct independent dam safety evaluations.
- Perform risk assessments for water storage and hydropower facilities, identifying potential failure modes and leading risk analysis workshops.
- Manage project scope, timelines, and budgets effectively.
- Mentor junior engineers, fostering their professional growth and technical expertise.
- Review engineering documentation produced by junior staff to ensure quality and compliance.
- Conduct independent technical reviews to uphold project deliverable standards.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering with a minimum of ten years of relevant experience or equivalent education.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- A valid U.S. Driver's License is required due to the nature of the work.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's or PhD in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Over 20 years of relevant experience.
- Expertise in dam design and evaluation, including material characterization and stability analyses.
- Familiarity with engineering design reports and specifications.
- Proficient in leading projects with effective delegation skills.
- Experience with software tools such as GeoStudio, FLAC, and AutoCAD.
- Background in risk analysis projects.
- Experience in business development and proposal preparation for engineering services.
- Highly organized with a strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
