Job Overview
POSITION SUMMARY: The Retail Sales Specialist is responsible for driving sales within their designated territory. This role involves collaborating with contractors and end users to enhance their purchasing experience, ensuring all sales objectives are met or surpassed. The specialist will work in tandem with the Retail Manager to uphold company standards and policies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process customer orders and respond to inquiries efficiently.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of materials as necessary.
- Develop and execute strategic sales initiatives to achieve targets.
- Provide installation guidance to contractors and end users for various projects.
- Maintain existing retail relationships while actively seeking new business opportunities.
- Assess customer needs and strive to exceed their expectations through consultative selling.
- Participate in inventory management processes.
- Manage accounts payable for the customer base effectively.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activities to inform sales strategies.
- Ensure accurate end-of-day sales reporting.
- Possess a working knowledge of metal building panels and components.
- Be prepared to travel as required, up to four weeks annually.
- Engage in cross-training with other departments to improve overall departmental efficiency.
- Collaborate with customers outside of the assigned territory to minimize conflicts.
- Conduct thorough surveys of potential customers to mitigate territory management issues.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma is preferred.
- Experience in retail sales, particularly with metal building components, is advantageous.
- Familiarity with installation techniques for products sold.
- Strong time management abilities.
- Capability to forecast, budget, and strategize sales elements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Able to lift up to 75 pounds.
