About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Hardware Development team at Span. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative mechanical systems for our products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Model and design components using various materials, including plastic, metal, and glass.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external teams to ensure seamless product development.
  • Analysis and Testing: Perform Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to model heat transfer, structural, and electromechanical aspects of our products.
  • Problem-Solving: Interpret analysis results, provide physical explanations, and drive product solutions.
  • Prototype Development: Design and build prototype components and assemblies.
  • Testing and Validation: Develop structural, thermal, and environmental tests to validate your designs.
  • Documentation: Create detailed 2D drawings using GD&T when applicable.
About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer who possesses a strong background in mechanical engineering and product development. The ideal candidate will have:

  • 8+ years of experience: Developing hardware products for production, with a strong understanding of the full production cycle from ideation to manufacturing.
  • Technical Expertise: Experience in static/dynamic structural, modal, and thermal analysis using hand calculations as well as FEA software.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage the workload of multiple projects.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication of technical concepts, ideas, and knowledge to other team members, including mentoring junior members of the team.
  • Passion for Renewable Energy: A passion for renewable energy and energy storage.
