As Peer Mentors, members of the Veteran Support Corps will assist student veterans within educational institutions and surrounding communities across designated geographical areas.

Success in this role requires a solid understanding of the resources available to veterans in their respective regions.

The Washington Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) aims to leverage the expertise, skills, and experiences of veterans and their families by involving them in AmeriCorps national service roles. This engagement is designed to foster positive community impact and enhance the quality of life for fellow veterans navigating various stages of civilian transition, while ensuring improved access to essential state, federal, and local services.

Member Responsibilities:

Members of the Veteran Support Corps will utilize their knowledge and experiences to make a meaningful difference in their communities. They will work towards enhancing the quality of life for veterans in transition, ensuring they have access to vital services.

Familiarity with local veteran services is crucial for success in this position.
