Cook/Housekeeper Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Cook/Housekeeper to join our team at Developmental Disabilities Institute. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for preparing and serving meals to our residents, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment, and assisting with household duties.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and cook meals for residents, following established menus and dietary guidelines
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, adhering to OPWDD regulations and safety standards
  • Assist with household duties, including laundry, cleaning, and maintenance
  • Work collaboratively with the Nutritionist to plan and prepare meals
  • Ensure accurate food inventories and proper storage of food and supplies
  • Report any maintenance needs or hazardous conditions to the Manager or Maintenance Person
  • Assist with scheduling and planning parties for special occasions
  • Answer telephone calls in a courteous and professional manner
Qualifications:
  • Ability to follow verbal and written directions
  • Proven experience as a cook (at least one year experience)
  • Ability to work well with staff members and residents
  • Ability to cook following menus and meal preparation guidelines
  • Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 25 lbs
