Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the operations of GCCS and evaluate capital budget planning and execution across the company's operational areas.
  • Provide expert guidance, recommendations, and direction on GCCS design, construction, and operational challenges.
  • Collaborate with regional and local personnel, as well as landfill gas energy developers, to enhance production, operations, and revenue streams.
  • Lead engineering construction and permitting projects effectively.
  • Review and comprehend permits related to landfill operations, offering guidance to Region Engineers and Landfill Managers to ensure compliance.
  • Work alongside regional staff to assess and update financial models pertaining to landfill construction and closure.
  • Engage with external consultants and District Staff to accurately gather and summarize data for sustainability reporting.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • A strong desire to lead within the company's engineering and environmental initiatives while gaining knowledge across all business sectors.
  • Ability to adhere to established procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Competence in interpreting documents such as safety regulations, contracts, and engineering plans.
  • Exceptional technical report writing capabilities.
  • Proficient computer skills, particularly in Excel.
  • Ability to identify problems, gather data, analyze it, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Capacity to anticipate and manage future compliance requirements while adapting to evolving regulatory landscapes.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with operations teams, external consultants, vendors, and clients.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of relevant environmental or engineering experience in the solid waste sector.
  • Experience in landfill gas system design and operation is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel 25-50% of the time.
