Join Our Team as a Caregiver/Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Floater

Momentum, a leading nonprofit provider of direct support for individuals with disabilities in Southern California, is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Caregiver/Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Floater to support disabled individuals with daily living needs in a group home residential setting.

The DSP Floater will be a "traveling DSP" within a region designated by a home base location, providing a unique opportunity to build a rewarding career in healthcare and develop caring relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote a friendly, comfortable, and safe environment for individuals with disabilities
  • Respect and promote the rights of individuals with disabilities
  • Travel to varying locations, as assigned, to provide support and care
  • Assist with personal care, including dressing, undressing, bathing, toileting, and overall hygiene
  • Assist with meal preparation, meal clean-up, laundry, and other cleaning tasks
  • Assist with moving in and out of beds, wheelchairs, and automobiles
  • Assist with activities of interest, such as outings, crafts, entertainment, and other community events
  • Follow infectious control guidelines during food preparation, mealtime, medication pass, personal care, toileting, and laundry
  • Provide direct support and other related duties as assigned by supervisor(s) and/or nursing staff
  • Follow and implement company policies
  • Attend required in-service trainings
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet department and/or business needs

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High School diploma or equivalent; required
  • Valid and current proof of legal right to drive in California; required
  • Reliable means of transportation; required
  • Current First Aid and/or CPR Certificate; preferred, not required
  • Experience working with developmentally disabled individuals; preferred
  • Read, write, comprehend, and communicate in English well enough to perform essential duties and responsibilities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • CNA or ANT certification; preferred
  • Ability to pass medication or willingness to learn/train as a Med Tech
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting
  • Ability to follow and give direction
  • Ability to run, push, pull, bend, squat, kneel, and lift up to fifty (50) pounds
