Position Overview

The role involves thorough investigation, analysis, and reconstruction of vehicular incidents, alongside examining failures in vehicle systems such as brakes, steering, and engines. Responsibilities encompass evaluating both single and multiple vehicle collisions, assessing speeds, roadway drag factors, reaction times, and driving behaviors. The position also includes preparing and presenting detailed diagrams, charts, and analyses to elucidate the causes and origins of various accidents. Additionally, the role may require inspecting automotive or mechanical components to determine the cause of failures and documenting evidence for litigation purposes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive reconstructions of vehicular accidents utilizing engineering principles, CAE tools, and relevant test data.
  • Perform forensic mapping and evidence analysis at collision sites.
  • Inspect various transportation modes including cars and trucks.
  • Execute damage assessments, analyze speeds from damage, and evaluate roadway conditions.
  • Investigate automotive and mechanical parts to ascertain failure causes.
  • Analyze product liability, design, and safety considerations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is mandatory.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required.
  • Advanced degrees (Master's or Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering are preferred.
  • Experience ranging from 2 to over 10 years is essential.

Physical and Travel Requirements

The position necessitates frequent standing, walking, sitting, climbing, and other physical activities. The employee must be capable of conducting field inspections, moving debris, and driving to various job sites. Lifting and moving items up to 50 pounds is required, along with clear vision and depth perception.

Overtime and Travel

This role is classified as salaried and may require overtime to meet job demands. Local and regional travel may be necessary, with potential overnight trips.
