Job Title: Senior Estimator

Turner Construction is seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our team. As a Senior Estimator, you will play a critical role in the preconstruction phase of our projects, working closely with our Preconstruction Manager and Project Preconstruction Manager to ensure accurate and complete estimates.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop and maintain accurate estimates, bids, and Guaranteed Maximum Prices (GMPs).
  • Coordinate with trade partners to obtain budget pricing and bidding information.
  • Lead review meetings with owners, architects, and engineers to discuss preconstruction phase progress.
  • Prepare comparison analyses to previous estimates and develop clear, concise messages to explain variances to project stakeholders.
  • Manage the distribution of current design documents to trade partners for budgeting and bidding purposes.
  • Review design documents for completeness and assemble comments and requests for additional information needed to provide complete estimates.
  • Visit project sites to evaluate existing conditions, identify scope not included in design documents, and capture relevant information.
  • Support the setup of estimates, estimate schedules, and responsibility matrices.
  • Perform quantity take-offs, analysis, estimates, and studies for assigned trades and building systems.
  • Provide pricing for value engineering, alternates, options, and special studies.
  • Utilize Building Information Models (BIM) for quantity take-offs and visualization to support complete estimate preparation.
  • Prepare trade partner bid proposal forms and bid recording sheets for assigned trades, evaluate trade partner input for scope inclusion, and identify scope gaps and overlaps.
  • Ensure complete and accurate pricing within estimates or GMPs, reflecting recent pricing data and trade partner bids or budgets.
  • Participate in estimate review meetings with internal stakeholders to validate estimates prior to client delivery.
  • Lead coordination of operational input during estimating, bidding, and GMP processes, ensuring estimates incorporate detailed General Conditions/Requirements (GC/GRs) studies and site logistics and Building LIFE as prepared by Operations.
  • Develop, lead, or support the assembly of estimate, bid, or GMP documents required by and submitted to owners, coordinating requirements with contract agreements.
  • Active participation in estimate and GMP review meetings with architects, engineers, and owners, incorporating comments, feedback, and input into revised estimates or GMPs and assembling revised documents for final submission.
  • Take a lead role or support role in Lump Sum bid processes.
  • Participate in hiring processes, onboard direct reports, deliver timely performance feedback, execute/contribute to performance appraisals during annual performance cycles, utilize talent management systems, and identify appropriate training to help with development needs.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited degree program in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction, or similar, and a minimum of 8 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Experience in project engineering, field supervision, or purchasing.
  • Building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, trade practices knowledge.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules.
  • Extensive knowledge of estimating documents and ability to provide accurate qualitative and quantitative analysis of documents.
  • Conceptual ability, able to work with minimal information and quickly develop an understanding of owner/architect requirements.
  • Project management of competing demands and meet established deadlines.
  • Familiar with operating procedures and methods of other departments - Procurement, Operations.
  • Supervisory or management experience.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills and Microsoft Office suite of applications, and familiar with estimating software.
  • Travel.
