Job Summary

Peterson Cat is seeking an experienced Power Generation Field Technician to join our team at our San Leandro, CA location. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing repairs to Marine Engines and Engine Power Generation equipment in the field, ensuring timely and efficient service to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to all safety procedures, laws, policies, and rules.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers to promote a positive relationship.
  • Work in accordance with Contamination Control Guidelines.
  • Be available to work overtime as needed, within labor law guidelines.
  • Travel to meet customer service requirements, including overnight stays, overseas, and out-of-territory travel.
  • Be on call to respond to customer service needs during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Perform service operations, including pre-delivery setup, installation, and start-up of Caterpillar engines, generators, and related products.
  • Repair, replace, or rebuild engines and related systems and components, including Cat and Non-Cat products in Industrial, Marine, and EPG applications.
  • Assist electric power field technicians as required.
  • Document activities accurately in service reports.
  • Prepare required documentation, including work orders, parts lists, and timecards, in a timely and accurate manner.
Requirements
  • Associates Degree from a fully accredited college or technical/vocational school in Diesel Technology or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of directly related experience in power generation or engine service, preferably in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Equivalent combination of education and work experience.
