This role is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a reimbursement initiative for student loan payments.

Award amounts (up to $200,000) and eligibility duration (1-5 years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office following a thorough review of the EDRP application.
Key Responsibilities:Cardiothoracic Surgery Duties:
- Conduct thorough examinations, establish diagnoses, and implement treatment strategies.
- Provide medical education and counseling to patients and their families.
- Ensure all pre-operative surgical requirements are met and coordinate inpatient activities.
- Oversee admissions and medical care for patients.
- Assist surgeons in the operating room, including preparation and surgical assistance.
- Perform bedside procedures such as placement of arterial lines, central lines, and bronchoscopy.
- Promote and update patient care programs based on current research and findings.
- Collaborate with various departments to enhance patient care.
- Manage quality assurance initiatives within the cardiothoracic section.
Surgical Intensive Care Duties:
- Consider safety, effectiveness, and cost in care delivery.
- Conduct patient assessments and make ethical practice decisions.
- Order and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic studies.
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy and nursing for patient management.
- Document patient care and relevant medical data accurately.
- Assist in invasive procedures and maintain accurate medical records.
- Advocate for patients and participate in performance measures.
- Identify at-risk individuals for necessary referrals.
Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Qualifications:
- Master's degree or a bachelor's degree with relevant experience as a Physician Assistant.
- Successful completion of the PA National Certifying Exam (PANCE) and a full, unrestricted license to practice.
- Additional experience in endovascular vein harvesting and surgical services is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform tasks involving standing, walking, and light lifting.
- Proficiency in using a computer for documentation and communication.
- Must be able to work effectively in both collaborative and independent settings.
