Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Science Instructor to join our Upward Bound team. As a Science Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching a Science course to high school students and providing academic support to help them succeed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach a Science course to high school students, incorporating vocabulary, comprehension, and subject retention strategies.
  • Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans and online video content for virtual instruction.
  • Provide individualized support to students through in-person, email, videoconferencing, or phone.
  • Communicate with program staff regarding student attendance and progress.
  • Keep accurate records of time and effort.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Florida Department of Education Teaching Certification.
  • 1-3 years of secondary school teaching or related experience, preferably working with low-income or minority youth.
  • Familiarity with assessment tools in the subject area.
  • Knowledge of OCPS High School English curriculum preferred.
  • Knowledge of remote learning platforms, such as Zoom or Google Classroom.
  • Successful experience interacting with culturally diverse populations.
What We Offer

This is a part-time position with a competitive hourly rate. The Science Instructor will work bi-monthly Saturdays and will be required to pass a Florida Level 2 Background Screening prior to their start date.
